UTSA accounting doctoral studentsw are now eligible to apply for the Accountingt Doctoral Scholarsfellowship program. The UTSA Collegr of Business is one of only 40 academidc programs nationwide to participate in the Accounting Doctoral Scholars program. Each year, the institute will selecrt 30 candidates nationwide to receivea four-year $30,0009 stipend. The aim of the Accounting Doctoral Scholaras program is to increase the numberd of doctoral accounting graduates in There is a critical shortagd of accounting doctoral faculty teaching auditing andtax courses, according to UTSA and the The goal is to increase the number of people with doctorap degrees in accounting.
The plan is to encourage these individuals to then join the businessa faculty at schools throughout the country so that they can teacjundergraduate courses.
